“Mr. Hermantown contestants”

Minnesota DECA is full of wonderful chapters that add to the success of our State-wide organization. Some chapters have been around for many years, and some are brand new to DECA. For example, Hermantown organized a DECA program four years ago, with only about a half dozen delegates. Hermantown’s advisor Mrs. Wolbert saw the potential her school had. The first year, Hermantown sent one student to the International Career Development Conference. The year after, Hermantown’s delegation doubled. The numbers have continually risen from Mrs. Wolbert’s initial DECA debut. This past year, Hermantown had over 30 delegates, and sent five to Salt Lake City for the International Career Development Conference. Despite taking maternity leave for nearly half the year, Mrs. Wolbert successfully turned Hermantown DECA into an International level competitor. It was DECA’s presence through fundraisers and community service that promoted Hermantown’s chapter. Chapters across the state can increase delegation by doing just as Hermantown did. Minnesota DECA has a great future because of their extraordinary chapters!

Sam Levar is the Vice President of Chapter Development at Minnesota DECA.
